THAT DREADFUL DAY
Once upon a time, there was a very busy hairdresser named Claris. She was 38 years old and she had a very, very busy shop, because she had no employees. She needed a vacation very badly, for she had not had one in 6 years. So her husband, Mark, booked a vacation to Hawaii for the two of them. Claris was so happy that she closed down shop for two whole days before they were to leave, so that she could pack and ready herself for the trip. Halfway through the packing, Claris realized she had left her most precious hair comb at her store, and she never went anywhere without it, because her mother gave it to her. It was her inspiration to become a hair stylist. But she was so excited about the trip that she had left it at her shop. So, she told Mark where she was going, and set off. When she got to the shop, it was almost 6:00pm and dark. She went into the store and to her office. She rummaged through her drawers until she found her comb, and turned to leave. But as soon as she stepped out of her office, she felt a hand grip her arm and.

Back at home, Mark waited for his wife to come home, but after 7:00pm and Claris was still not home, he knew something was wrong. Very, very wrong. Mark was extremely worried, so he got in his car, and sped to the shop. When he got there, he found one of the people he worked with, standing over the body of his wife! It was a shock! Claris was lying there with her favorite comb in her hand. Her face was so pale it looked like it was made out of snow.
“Oh my God,” Mark shuddered. “She’s dead!”
“Oh, Mark, I’m so sorry!” cried Mindy.
“It’s okay,” croaked Mark, “it wasn’t your fault.” Or was it he thought?
Mark was devastated with his wife’s death, but it almost immediately turned to a burning anger. “What are you doing here?” he questioned Mindy. For a second, Mindy looked worried, her expression changed immediately to relax her features.
“I was at the market and was walking to my car, when I saw Claris lying here.” Mindy looked away in sorrow. Mark said nothing
“We must report it.” Mindy said strongly.
“Yes,” Mark replied. He then started sobbing.
“What will you do with your plane tickets to Hawaii?” Mindy asked casually.
“I don’t know.” Mark cried.
“You could go by yourself.” Mindy suggested.
“MY WIFE HAS JUST DIED, Mindy! Do you think I want to go on a vacation that we were supposed to go on together?” Mark shouted. He immediately knew he shouldn’t have shouted, because Mindy looked shocked. “I’m sorry,” Mark said softly, “but I’m so angry I can’t control myself!”
Mindy looked like she understood now, “Come, let’s go to the police.”

Two days after Mark had reported to the police about his dead wife, he received a call from them saying that the person who had killed his wife was Mindy! They had discovered fingerprints on Claris’s arm that led straight to Mindy. Mark was outraged. He thought he could trust Mindy. So he went down to the jail and requested a visit with her. When the guard brought Mindy out, he gave her 15 minutes. As soon as the guard had left, Mindy blurted out “I know you know what I did, but it’s not what you think. I wanted to be with you.”
“You wanted to be with me, so you killed my wife!” Mark shouted softly.
“I love you and I thought that if Claris was out of the picture, you would take me on your trip to Hawaii.” Mindy whispered quickly.
“Oh, now I get it,” Mark faked “and of course I’ll take you with me to Hawaii.”
“Really?” Mindy said thoughtfully.
“Yeah! In your dreams!” Mark said very calmly.
Just then, the guard returned.
“Mark! Don’t do this to me!” Mindy yelled as the guard dragged her away.
A few minutes went by, and then the guard came back.
“Do you want me to escort you out?” the guard asked Mark.
“Thanks.” Mark replied, and the guard led him to the front office.
“Thank you” Mark replied solemnly
“I am so sorry about your wife.” The guard said quietly.
“It’s alright.” Mark replied, “I know I’ll meet her in another,
happier world.”

Wow such a twisted and sadistic plot. Well developed Elizabeth. I like how you transition from the death of Mindy to Mark "waiting anxiously."
Might you have more resolution at the end? What happens to Mindy? Is she locked up forever? What trangresses in Mark's life now that his wife is dead?
